ORIGINS & JOURNEY

Born in Giza, Egypt, Insane Who Sane moved to the United States to pursue his passion for music. His journey began in New York City in 2007, where he established himself as a DJ known for throwing magical after-hours experiences that captivated the underground scene. While in NYC, working at Halcyon Record Store and the renowned Output Club, immersed him in the city's rich electronic music culture.

DETROIT EVOLUTION

In 2017, his career took a transformative turn after relocating to Detroit, the birthplace of techno. A five-year tenure running Transmat Records, where he contributed to A&R efforts and helped shepherd ten releases from the iconic label. This period proved formative as he absorbed the deep history and pioneering spirit of Detroit techno. During that period he worked closely with the likes of Drummer B, Scan 7, Biz, Jon Hester, Hiroshi Watanabe and many more.

Concurrently, Insane Who Sane served as a resident DJ at The Griot Music Lounge, a Black vinyl lounge dedicated to preserving and celebrating the rich legacy of Black music. His curatorial talents also extended to the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit, where he took on the role of sound curator, further cementing his status as a thoughtful voice in Detroit's cultural landscape. While at MOCAD he was the resident DJ for the legendary Techno Brunch Series which featured some of Detroit’s greatest; Stacey Hotwaxx, Norm Talley, John Collins, Delano Smith and many more.

HOUSE OF WADJET RECORDS

In 2022, Insane Who Sane established House of Wadjet Records, creating a platform to fully express his unique sonic vision. The label's debut release, "Come Back to Me EP," paid homage to the early Detroit and Chicago sound while infusing it with futuristic elements—a marriage of deep house and techno that evokes "the spirit of the early Chicago and Detroit records but adds a futuristic perspective." The label's sophomore release, "Keep Pushin Aun EP," featuring Detroit songstress DePeila, further expanded his artistic territory, venturing into the realm of neo-tech soul music. This collaboration showcased his ability to blur genre boundaries while maintaining a coherent aesthetic vision. With each release, Insane Who Sane continues to forge new pathways in electronic music, using House of Wadjet Records as a vehicle to voice his "visions of solitude through music" while building upon the rich foundations of Detroit's musical heritage.

Insane Who Sane is currently resident at Soul Tone, a monthly party at The High Dive. He is also the brains behind Sound Surge, a true Detroit after party.
